18th - 26th June : Solstice Exhibition

EDAA will be opening its doors again this Saturday 18th (preview on Friday 6.30 - 8.30pm) for their Solstice Exhibition. This exhibition will show the work of five local artists: Catherine Osbond, Matt Culmer, Lyn Whiteman, Yvonne Taylor and Roy Newby. There will be a diverse collection of original paintings and prints for sale.

Yvonne Taylor works mainly in oils depicting vibrant scenes of Devon as well as the Italian landscape. Having trained in design at St Martins School of Art (London), she then worked in textile design and later taught art. In the last few years she has been concentrating on her painting and has exhibited in the South-West area.

Lyn Whiteman works in all media and has a variety of approaches. She has concentrated on seascapes for this exhibition. Lyn also teaches in the area and runs workshops.

Roy Newby was born in 1912 and worked as a graphic artist, illustrator and painter. He retired in his sixties and was then able to work full-time as a painter. Roy is now 98 and this exhibition has been organised by his son, Mike Newby, who lives in East Devon.

Matt Culmer is an en plein air painter who works in oils. His paintings depict the Devon and French landscape.

Catherine Osbond works in all media, but has concentrated on oils for this exhibition. Her work depicts the Devon landscape and the human form. Both Catherine and Matt teach at East Devon Art Academy. Contact the Academy on 01395 516284 or info@eastdevonart.co.uk
