- Life And Portraiture -
Life classes are held regularly at East Devon Art Academy, Sidmouth.
There are regular all Saturday workshops plus regular weekly classes.
Life drawing is an important skill and very useful in developing observational skills. Even if you are predominantly a landscape painter, drawing and painting from the life model will develop your observational skills on many levels.
In the Life Classes students will work from a life model. The model will be placed in a series of short poses plus one long pose.
Tutors will guide both beginners and more experienced painters to develop students' awareness of line, shape, form, tone and composition. Use of colour will also be explored, using different palettes and aspects of colour mixing.
Students may draw and paint from the model, using a variety of approaches. They may choose to concentrate on drawing, using charcoal, conté, pastel, inks etc. Alternatively they may wish to concentrate on painting in oils, acrylics or pastel.
Experiment, explore and enjoy!
In addition to tutored workshops, there will also be untutored workshops where students are free to draw and paint from the model and use studio space, but without guidance.
This is an excellent opportunity for more experience artists who do not require teaching but would welcome the opportunity to work from a life model in an excellent studio space.
The charge for these workshops is lower than tutored workshops.
