A course designed for those who wish to learn either traditional painting techniques or more modern approaches.
This course is suitable for those with experience of drawing and painting who wish to further develop their skills.
During this course students will be shown how to produce drawings and paintings in a variety of ways. Use of composition, perspective, tone, form and portraying texture will be covered.
Students can choose which medium they work in, for example acrylic, watercolour, pastel, oils, water-soluble pencils, etc. Use of combinations of media will be demonstrated on occasion.
Learn how to gather information in a sketchbook and use it effectively in the studio.
Use of colour will be covered, such as colour mixing, use of glazes and optical mixing etc.
Various types of brushwork will also be explored to create different effects. Palette knife work, painting with sponges, rags etc will be demonstrated where appropriate.
We will concentrate on landscape, but students will be welcome to work from other subject matter, such as still life, flowers and figure drawing.
Demonstrations of different techniques will be given at each class.
Individual tuition will also be given.
