Drawing and Painting : Beginners to Intermediates

Mondays 10 am - 12.30 pm.

Tuesdays 6.45 - 8.45 pm.

 

A course designed for those who wish to learn traditional drawing and painting techniques.

 

This course is suitable for beginners and those with some experience of drawing or painting.

 

During this course students will be shown how to produce drawings and paintings in a variety of ways. Use of proportion, measuring, perspective, line, form, tone, and portraying texture will be covered.

 

Use of drawing media such as pencil, charcoal, conté, pen and ink will be covered.

 

Learn how to gather information in a sketchbook and use it effectively in the studio.

 

Use of colour will also be covered, such as colour mixing, use of glazes etc. Students can choose which medium they work in, for example watercolour, pastel, acrylics etc.

 

Subject matter will be left to individual choice, such as landscape, flowers, still life, figure drawing.

 

Demonstrations of different techniques will be given at each class.
